One of the first pictures that first made me love otters was a little baby otter on its mother's belly. This picture was taken in Morro Bay which is one of the few places in the world where there are numerous sea otters. (source - San Luis Obispo Tribune)

There's nothing like the love of a mother for her kids. Otter moms definitely have their paws full, teaching the pups to swim, fish and behave. If you've ever seen otters in person, you'll know that this is a full time job! Thanks to Sally for sending this in from the Daily Squee.

Three Otter Pups Born at the Columbus Zoo March 26. 2010
Three male otter pups were just born at the Columbus Zoo to proud parents, Audrey and Babar. So tiny and cute, I'm sure it'll be a while before they go on display.

I finally was able to find some pictures of Atlantis Marine World's newest otter, "Baby Girl Otter". Yes, we can all hope they'll have a "name the otter" contest soon.

Look at that adorable little otter face! Yes, Kit the otter is the newest and youngest addition to the Monterey Bay Aquarium otter exhibit. If you've never been to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, you're missing out! Go for the otters but you'll be amazed at the rest of the displays which are truly some of the best in the world.
From the Monterey Bay Aquarium: A rescued southern sea otter pup has joined the sea otter exhibit at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Today (February 18) marks the debut of 11-week-old Kit, the youngest sea otter in the aquarium’s history to join the two-story exhibit, which is a permanent home for other rescued sea otters. Visitors can watch Kit and her 9-year-old companion, Mae, as they eat, sleep and play.
“We’re thrilled that our visitors will have this rare opportunity to see a sea otter pup up-close,” said Chris DeAngelo, the aquarium’s associate curator of mammals. “We hope that, as they get to know Kit, they’ll be further inspired to learn more about these threatened marine mammals and help protect these icons of the Central Coast.”

Derek Robertson - The Man Who Paints Otters December 5. 2009
Derek Robertson has been watching, sketching and painting otters for 20 years and he even got Tay the otter to leave a paw print of approval in his new book.
From the Daily Mail UK: At the otter enclosure at Camperdown Wildlife Centre in Dundee Mr Robertson spoke of his time as a wildlife artist.
'The book took a year to complete and brings together a collection of sketches, paintings, and essays on otters, and looks back on 20 years observing them all over Scotland,' he said.
'They are amazing creatures and I never tire of observing them.
'I'm really happy with how the book has turned out, and I hope that people enjoy it as much as I have in putting it together.'

Sure, Halloween is over but we always have time for one more otter and pumpkin picture!
From the North Devon Gazette: A ghoulish gourmet treat was in store for these otter pups at Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, looking on as mum prepares to divide up a feast of mealworms a la pumpkin lantern!
The pups are now 12 weeks old and have emerged from the nest just in time for half term and to enjoy a Hallowe'en themed enrichment of pumpkin filled with worms and fish pieces.
