Occy Strap Otter January 17. 2007

Leanne sent in this great otter picture taken in Monterey. At first I thought this otter was going for the Snickers bar but it turns out that it was more interested in playing with the occy straps (also known as luggage straps, occie straps, bungee cords, etc.).

For Christmas we went to Monterey Bay and caught up the otters in the aquarium and the wild ones in the bay and surrounds. The wild ones were pretty keen on the stretchy occie straps on the kayaks.

Otters and Kayaks
A while ago Leanne sent me a picture of an otter sneaking up on her kayak (click here to see it) and it seems that otters are getting a bit more bold!

That's nice! I'd be startled at first to see an otter near my canoe (or whatever that boat is..heh) But it would be nice to experince something like that. I finally linked you on my site Peter!

Hi Tanya! I've heard that otter encounters are frequent in many areas like Monterey, Washington and Vancouver. I'm planning my trips right now!
