It's a good thing Susan Carlough spotted little Skittle because he almost froze to death, stuck to a dock in Alaska. Let's hope Skittle can be nursed back to health and released back into the wild.
From the Alaska Sealife Center: “Skittle,” a 10-week old abandoned male sea otter pup arrived at the Alaska SeaLife Center on Monday after a journey that took him from Seldovia to Homer to Seward. Susan Carlough Harbor Master of the Seldovia harbormaster’s office first reported an otter pup near the float plane dock on Monday morning. The pup was alone, lethargic, and half frozen to the dock. After two hours of observation and no sign of its mother, the US Fish and Wildlife Service was notified Michael Opheim Environmental Coordinator of Seldovia Village Tribe, authorized the pup’s rescue, contacted the Alaska SeaLife Center, and arranged his transport to Homer by Sarah Snell of Smokey Bay Air.
