Cute Otters

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all have a happy and prosperous new year! There are some big things planned for CuteOtters.com this coming year so I hope you'll all keep visiting the site. Also, if you have your own otter pictures and/or videos you want to share with us, please feel free to e-mail them to me with any stories you have about them. Maria had another otter picture that I thought was worth posting. This is Weezie the otter who passed away earlier this year.

Maria writes: This is the last time I saw Wheezie. I never knew her name, but had fallen in love with her & her mate when I first saw them on a very hot day in August 2002. I always stopped by the small mammal house just to see them - often sneaking in the "OUT" door.
But the last couple time there had been only one otter out, or none. On this day I found out that her mate had died in December and they had been very worried about her. They thought she was doing better, but I guess she wasn't.
RIP Wheezie.

This adorable asian otter is getting fed some nice fish by a handler using some sort of grabber but in my mind this otter is fighting with a robot for a fish (hey, it's late at night).  Thanks to Maria for this great picture.

Jolene sent me this great picture taken while working as an animal caretaker at Bear Country U.S.A., a drive through wildlife park in Rapid City, SD.

Jolene writes: This picture is of Oliver and Louise, two of the North American river otters that live at the park. I was lucky enough to be around them all summer and so got lots of chances to photograph them. They are definitely one of my most favorite animals there.

Here's a cute video of Scoote the dog trying to get at an otter on the TV. Little does Scoote know but the otter is probably bigger than he is!
